BrainPAC Executive Committee
AAN COMMITTEEs
The purpose of the BrainPAC Executive Committee is to direct the AAN’s BrainPAC fundraising efforts and approve contributions to candidates for federal office who support the Academy’s federal advocacy priorities.

Job Description
Committee Responsibilities
- Maintain criteria for candidate contributions.
- Guide fundraising efforts to align with annual goals.
Individual Responsibilities
- Attend one in-person Committee meeting per year and two to three virtual meetings or calls
- Respond promptly to email communications regarding BrainPAC oversight
- Demonstrate an understanding of politics and campaign-finance regulations
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to focus on the AAN's legislative priorities, to the exclusion of one's own political views
- Take an active role in donation solicitation
Selection/Appointment
Members are appointed by the AAN President and may serve up to three two-year terms. The Chair and Vice Chair may serve up to an additional three two-year terms.
Meeting Schedule
The BrainPAC Executive Committee meets annually in conjunction with Neurology on the Hill, which usually takes place each year in late February in Washington, DC.
Estimated Time Commitment
Three hours per month and one in-person meeting annually, plus two to three virtual meetings/calls.
Composition
The BrainPAC Executive Committee will include 17 members including the following:
- Chair and Vice Chair
- AAN Executive Director (ex-officio non-voting member)
- 14 at-large voting members
