Value-based Care
PRACTICING NEUROLOGISTs & ADMINISTRATOrs
The term "value-based care" refers to the shift in health care towards paying providers, hospitals and other entities based on the quality of care delivery and health outcomes. Value-based care encompasses many models and programs—regulatory and private—and other processes.
The AAN is dedicated to preparing its members to practice in the environment of value-based care through education and efforts to help practices transform and transition into innovative payment and care delivery models.
The Quality Payment Program (QPP), established by the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015, includes two tracks: the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced-Alternative Payment Models. The QPP is one value-based program with multiple pathways that neurologists and neurology advanced practice providers may participate in. There are also other value-based care models and resources available to explore and consider for your practice.
