Assessment of Parkinson's Disease Medication-related Motor Complications
Measure Purpose: Ensure patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD) on a dopaminergic medication are assessed for dopaminergic medication-related motor complications regularly.
The numerator: all visits for patients with a diagnosis of PD where patients (or caregiver(s), as appropriate) were queried about dopaminergic medication-related motor complications (i.e., wearing off, dyskinesia, dystonia, on-off phenomena, and amount of off time).

The denominator: all visits for patients with a diagnosis of PD on a dopaminergic medication (i.e., levodopa, agonists, monomine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors, and cathechol-O-methyl transferase (COMT) inhibitors).
Exclusions are removed from the denominator:
- Patient (Pt) is unable to communicate and caregiver/informant is unavailable to provide information.

Measure Calculation Example
Dr. Costa has 500 patient visits between January 1 and December for patients diagnosed with PD who were prescribed a dopaminergic medication. This is the denominator.
During 27 visits, patients were unable to provide information and did not have an informant available to provide information. These visits meet the exclusion criteria and are removed from the denominator.
Of the now 473 visits that still qualify for this measure, 218 had documentation that the patients were queried about dopaminergic medication-related motor complications (i.e., wearing off, dyskinesia, dystonia, on-off phenomena, and amount of off time). This is the numerator.
