This is an inverse measure and a lower score is better. Dr. Hernandez sees 100 patients diagnosed with MS between January 1 and December 31. This is the denominator.
Six patients have in-dwelling catheter and one patient has diverting urostomy documented. These seven (6+1) patients are removed from the denominator as exclusions.
Of the remaining 93 patients, 43 experienced a bladder infection in the measurement period. This is the numerator.
Quality of patient care = 43/93. Dr. Reddy has a score of 46.2% for this measure.
