The denominator: Patients aged 8 years of age and above diagnosed with chronic* TD or TS without severe or profound intellectual disability who are currently not receiving behavioral therapy
Exceptions are removed from the denominator for:
- Patient/caregiver refuse
- Patient has already received referral in the 12-month measurement year

Measure Calculation Example
Dr. Vera had 12 patients with a tic disorder and four with Tourette syndrome from January 1 to December 31 of the measurement year. This is the denominator. One patient refused behavioral therapy. This is removed from the denominator.
Of the remaining 11 patients, five were counseled about behavioral therapy and one was referred for behavioral therapy.
Quality of care = 6/(12-1). Dr. Vera has a score of 54% for this measure.
