Opportunities for US Member Involvement
Member Engagement
The AAN offers many opportunities to get involved, whether it’s growing your leadership skills through one of the many leadership programs or participating in a committee or work group. Getting involved will provide you the resources to help advance your career and connect with neurology professionals with similar interests and career stages.
Join a committee and/or subcommittee and help carry out the business of the AAN.
Apply for an AAN Leadership Program
From personal development opportunities to transformational career pathways, the AAN is here to guide your leadership growth.
Join a lively network of neurologists and neuroscience professionals in your area of interest. Engage in conversation; exchange ideas; and share scientific, practice, and professional insights.
Volunteer to submit scientific abstract reviews, education course proposals, and topic proposals for AAN guidelines.
Synapse AAN Member Communities
The official communication platform for AAN Sections. Joining an AAN Section gives you access to that section's Synapse Online Community page where you can network with colleagues; exchange ideas and share expertise on patient care, and discuss timely news affecting the field of neurology.
Apply for the Palatucci Advocacy Leadership Forum
Become an advocacy leader in your clinic, institution, or community.
Participate in Neurology on the Hill to meet face-to-face with lawmakers and educate them about the critical role of neurologists in health care and the need for reform.
Provide Your Comments During the AAN Guidelines Public Comment Period
Review and comment on draft practice guidelines and quality measures that are currently open for public comment.
Become a Reviewer for the Neurology Journals
Peer reviewers' opinions of manuscripts are invaluable in assisting the Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors in making their decisions. In addition to helping assess the value of a manuscript for the scientific literature and Neurology, in particular, reviewers help authors to improve their manuscripts by recommending areas for the author to address (either for Neurology or an alternate journal if a manuscript is ultimately rejected by Neurology).
