DIVISION CHIEF SUBCOMMITTEE
DESCRIPTION
The Division Chief Subcommittee of the Academic Neurology Committee is responsible for providing guidance and resources to Division Chiefs at all Academic Neurology institutions to support their leadership and strategic directions for clinical, research, and academic activities.

Staff Liaison: Lucy Persaud, Associate Director, Trainee Education
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess needs of Division Chiefs across the country
- Develop Division Chief orientation program and materials
- Provide guidance and direction for career advancement (faculty to Division Chief, Division Chief to Chair, etc.)
- Develop manuscripts, resources, and programs
- Collaborate with AAN Committees and Subcommittees as needed
- Collaborate with outside groups as appropriate
Selection/Appointment
The Chair and members of the Subcommittee are appointed by the AAN President.
Meeting Schedule
- Spring meeting to review the status of Subcommittee projects (90 mins – Virtual)
- Fall meeting to review the status of Subcommittee projects (full day – in person)
Estimated Time Commitment
Approximately 2-4 hours per month (including email correspondence), plus meetings).
Subcommittee Composition
Subcommittee composition may include the following members:
- 8-10 Division Chiefs – representing diversity and gender, geographic diversity, departmental size diversity (small, medium, large), adult and child neurology division chiefs
- 2-3 Division Chief Academic Business Administrators
