Measure Calculation Example
Dr. Reddy has 100 patients between January 1 and December 31 with a diagnosis of brain tumor, prescribed chemotherapy. Five patients were under the age of 18, and five patients were prescribed chemotherapy as part of a clinical trial. These ten patients are not included in the denominator and the remaining 90 patients (100-(5+5)=90) are included in the denominator.
Of the 90 patients who were prescribed chemotherapy outside a clinical trial, eight met exclusion criteria as they had received education and active consent for same chemotherapy prescription in the past 12-month period.
Of the now 82 patients that still qualify for this measure denominator, 36 received both chemotherapy education and an informed consent obtained. This is the numerator.
Quality of patient care = 36/(90-8). Dr. Reddy has a score of 43.9% for this measure.
