Measure Calculation Example
Dr. Davis sees 100 patients with dementia between January 1 and December 31. This is the denominator. There are no exclusions for this measure.
Dr. Davis notes 20 patients are bed bound and no longer drive. Of the remaining 80 patients, Dr. Davis assesses 50 patients' driving risks. Of those 50 patients, 40 patients had a negative screening and met the measure. Ten patients had a positive screening warranting discussion of driving alternatives. Dr. Davis documents discussing driving alternatives with 6 of the 10 patients. The numerator is 66. Twenty patients not driving as bed bound plus forty patients screened negative plus six patients who screened positive and had driving alternative recommendations documented.
Quality of patient care = 66 (20+40+6)/100. Dr. Davis has a score of 66% for this measure.
